MYRTLE BEACH SC (WBTW) — The South Carolina Department of Social Services (DSS) is celebrating 30 years of supporting families and early childhood programs through ABC Quality.
ABC Quality is South Carolina’s statewide quality assessment and improvement system. It helps families connect to early care and education programs.
Programs registered with ABC Quality go through a grading process and are rated A, B or C based on the following: program administration and structure, staff training and professional development, child welfare, family partnership and community and intentional teaching practices.
“C” level programs are always above the minimum standards required for the state.
ABC Quality’s mission is to give children the best possible education and quality of care. The program is administered by the Division of Early Care and Education of the South Carolina Department of Social Services.
This program is designed to be simple to use and to help parents find the best child care or education programs for their children.
“What it does for parents is give them peace of mind,” said Will Batchelor, director of media relations at DSS.
To find the best program for a child, go to the ABC Quality site and enter a zip code.
