The University of Kashmir on Monday appointed Dr. Majid Zaman, ‘E’ Scientist, Directorate of Information Technology and Support System, as the new controller of examinations of the university.

An order to that effect, issued by Registrar Dr Nisar A Mir, reads: “After the approval of the Honorable Chancellor (Honourable Lieutenant Governor), assent is hereby granted to the appointment of Dr Majid Zaman N/A Mr. Ghulam Mohammad Baba as Controller of Examinations (permanent position) for a period of five years.

Dr Majid’s appointment follows the recommendations of a statutory selection committee held on 11.11.2021 to appoint the new University Controller of Examinations.

Dr. Majid holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Kashmir after earning a Masters in Software Systems from Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani and a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science from BAMU, Maharashtra.

Dr. Majid has a wealth of administrative, teaching and research experience and has held several prominent positions at the University of Kashmir including Director of National Academic Depository (NAD), Assistant Controller of Examinations and Program Coordinator MSc Computer Science.

Dr. Majid has mentored a number of PhD and MSc researchers and published several research papers in leading journals around the world, particularly in the emerging fields of Data Science, Machine Learning and artificial intelligence.

Shortly after taking office on Monday, Dr Majid said his immediate priority would be to expedite the reporting of all pending results and organize various examinations.

“I see this appointment as an opportunity to try to help further strengthen and streamline the University’s examination system with the active support of the administration, university principals and students,” he said. -he declares.
