The wildlife program is funded largely by community donations
ONALASKA, Wis. (WKBT) – A big check will help a few small bills – on the ducks.
The La Crosse 95.7 Rock Foundation presented an $800 donation to the Coulee Region Humane Society Wildlife Program.
The money will be used to improve the duckling enclosures.
Animal Control rescues and rehabilitates many orphaned and injured ducklings.
In 2021, the program welcomed 324 ducklings, about 100 more than the previous year.
Although the company now has a structure, it needs to plan for the future.
“It’s good but it’s not good enough,” said animal control officer Kathy Kasakaitas. “And it’s not big enough. So always plan ahead for improvements for better care and housing for the animals.
The wildlife program is funded largely by community donations, which can be made online.
